Blue Light and Health

We are exposed to electronic displays day and night. Such excessive exposure poses a threat to our health. Scientists have found numerous evidences showing that exposing to blue light emitted from the display during nighttime greatly affects our circadian clock and can seriously harm our health. There are two parts of blue light harmful to our health. The notorious high energy visible (HEV) part of blue light damages our retina cells and is related to macular degeneration. Recent research has spotted another part of blue light with slightly longer wavelengths that suppresses the secretion of melatonin, tampers with our circadian rhythm, and hence degrades our sleep quality.

Existing anti blue light products only deal with the HEV part and ignores the sleep-quality-related part of the blue light.
